Peter had finally made it back to the castle after getting lost near the lake, tripping over a vine and embarrassing himself in front of his cousin, Ares. Well, it wasn't expecting to run into him, but the tension between the two could be cut with a knife. Peter would never understand everything, but he knew it had something to do with his dad's brother. Rubbing the back of his neck, he didn't let himself linger on it, since there was seriously no point in that at all.
Removing his wand, he quickly used a spell to remove the dirt and moss that was stuck to his shirt and quickly checked his chest where he had landed on that sharp rock. Luckily it had been small, but it was making a small bruise and he winced when he saw it. Yeah, that was going to hurt for a day or two.
Letting out a sigh, he found a place and plopped on the ground. It was near a bush and mostly hid him from view from the direction he had come from.

Sophia sometimes didn't understand why her brother disliked certain people. Of course it was none of her business. His opinions were his own and that was that. Sophia was friendly to just about everyone unless you really proved yourself her enemy. Even then she was fairly forgiving of others. She was not the type of person to hold grudges and make enemies. If she was honest it literally cost more energy than it was truly worth.
Sophia at some point found herself wandering around the grounds of Hogwarts. Being back here was great and now it was time to catch up with friends she hadn't seen in a while. Though in her search she found someone else. Of course being the nice person she was made her way over. At first she hadn't noticed who it was, not that she would have minded anyway.
She wondered what he was doing out here alone and seemingly trying to hide. "Oh hello" she said to him. On closer inspection she noticed it was Peter. She remembered him being in the Black family, mostly on mention of her brother. Of course her brother disliked him though again she had no knowledge as to why. She approached calmly as to not startle him if he had not noticed her approach.

Peter turned his head at the sound of a 'hello' and he gave a half smile when he saw it was Sophia. They had both started at Hogwarts together and had a couple of classes together. It was nice to see a friend and he glanced at the ground he was sitting on. Whatever he had done in the past to Ares, he was glad that Sophia didn't dislike him too. She wasn't related to him like her brother was and to be honest, he didn't know the whole story for that, but it wasn't really his business.
"Hey Sophia," he said as he motioned to the ground, letting her know that she was welcome to join him. "Did you have a good summer?" Peter's had been pretty good, but it wasn't that exciting. He had spent time with his parents at different times. His mom had taken him to visit family and they had gone on a few day trips. But, nothing too exciting. They went to the Zoo a few times, went out to eat dinner a few times. It was nice, it was relaxing, it was restful.

tagged @pete words 145 notes if any | If Sophia was honest she was rather fond of hanging out with Peter. He was a real nice guys and though her brother didn't like him gave her no reason to hate him herself. They were both in the same year so she seen him often in classes. When motioned to sit she settled down in the grass beside him. She looked forward to this year and classes, except for maybe potions.
"Well my summer was pretty good. Can't say I did anything super exciting. I did work on practicing quidditch though" she pointed out to him. She moved sight to get comfortable and keep the blaring sun out of her eyes. "So how about you? How was your summer?" she asked casually. She looked at him with a curious gaze. It felt nice to hang out with the friends she hadn't seen all summer.

Peter watched as she got comfortable and he felt himself smile over at her for a moment before he looked back out over the lawn. Every now and then, someone would catch his eye as he watched them walk by or sit down not far away. He made sure she had some room and then listened to her as she spoke.
It sounded like her summer was pretty good and he could relate a bit. The sound of her working on quidditch made him remember his conversation with her brother and he couldn't help but chuckle mildly to himself. "Mine was good. Mum and I explored some, Dad and I went here and there, but nothing major... Went to the London Zoo, so that was fun." He said as he plucked some grass from the ground and gave it a little twirl with his fingers.

It was funny how many students who would see their friends all at once before classes began, rushed around to find friends and catch up. Maybe some were just a but impatient or very excited. Though she picked up on his chuckle she didn't ask what was so funny. Hanging out with friends surely beat going to the common room and getting things ready for classes. She listened intently as he spoke of his summer.
From what she had heard he definitely had a much more fun summer than she had. "That all sounds awesome. So do you look forward to this year?" she asked curiously. There was definitely things she looked forward to and things that she didn't. Such as she dreaded potions but looked forward to Defense against the Dark Arts. There was also things such as quidditch she looked forward to.

Peter found the memory of the recent conversation with her brother to still be amusing, but he tried to hold back his amusement, since she had no idea what it was he was finding funny. Putting his arms around his legs, he looked out over the lawn at any other students and pushed some hair from his face. At her question about the new year, he shrugged.
"I guess so... I mean, it's nice to be back here and see everyone... At least I don't have to be at home right now," he said, though the last part was more of a mumble. The whole thing at home right now was hard on him. He had always wanted his parents to fix their problems and be together. You know, the fairy tale ending... But as his mother dated this new guy, he realized that was false hope on his part. "It will be nice to play again with and against everyone again," he said as a smile spread over his face before he glanced at her. They were both friends and quidditch rivals, but it was all fun for him.

Sophia was pretty excited for the year. Maybe not for the classes as much she looked forward to whatever fun adventures the year may bring. Of course quidditch was high on that list too. She gave him a soft smile before looking out over the lawn. There was a few people out and about doing their own thing. No one seemed to pay them any mind. She found herself twirling a strand of her hair absentmindedly.
She could tell something bothered him but she didn't push him to tell. "If you ever need someone to talk to, you know you have me to talk to" she said with a reassuring smile. She hoped he knew he could tell her anything. That was what friends were for of course. Changing subjects though she smiled, "Of course I look forward to quidditch.." she told him.

Peter found himself just watching and listening. He wondered what it had been like for his parents here at Hogwarts. Is this how they met? Or were they in different years? Was his dad one of those people that just ignored others and never noticed his mother? Obviously he took notice in her years later, right? Maybe he could write him? Sirius was a good father to him and Peter loved him a lot.
But than came his mother... What was she going to do? How long before the man she was see would be married to her? Would they even care about him? Would they start a whole new life? As a teenager, he had many questions but wasn't really sure how to ask them or communicate them. Peter looked at her when she told him she was there and he smiled. "Thanks Soph," he said to her before he leaned back on his hands and stretched out his legs.
A smile curved on his lips when she mentioned quidditch and he glanced over at her. "So is your brother, I stumbled on him while I was walking today." The memory of the interaction was rather amusing still, even if it had been embarrassing.

Sophia offered him a kind smile. Sophia was always supportive of those who were friends. It was just how she was. She wanted to help others feel better if she could. "That is what friends are for" she told him. Of course when it came to quidditch they could be competitive but never once had she allowed it to effect her friendships off the field.
When he brought up her brother she couldn't help but let a small laugh escape her lips. "I can only imagine how that all played out" she said softly. She wasn't shocked her brother looked forward to quidditch. He often always did so that comment wasn't all too surprising. "He didn't give you a hard time did he?" she asked curiously. She knew of the tension but never the cause. Ares had never actually told her why though. She wasn't one to pry of course.
