The Plot

What if Tom Riddle accepted Merope Gaunt and raised their son together?  It wasn't exactly perfect, of course, given how different they were, but it prevented the rise of a great evil in the wizarding world.  Or perhaps it only delayed the inevitable conflict between blood purists and the rest of the community at large.  

The wizarding world is currently at peace in 1995.  Harry Potter and several others are entering their 5th year at Hogwarts.  The previous year the Triwizard Tournament ended with a success for Hogwarts with Cedric Diggory coming out as the champion.  There was no scramble for the sorceror's stone - there was no opening of the Chamber of Secrets - and there were no dementors searching for an outlaw on Hogwarts grounds.  Harry Potter was just another student - no more famous than any other wizarding family.

However, it is also this year when the tensions between the wizarding world's residents has start to boil over.  Some want to come out of the shadows and reveal themselves to the muggles - and other believe that would only lead to the muggles attacking and causing war.  Others believe they should simply not mix with the muggles.  There are many facets to the issue, and some have even formed militant groups to support their points.  Some attempt to force the wizards into the limelight, and others stop them.  How long can the wizards stay hidden?  What will happen if they are discovered?
