Following quidditch practice Avery found herself standing by the lake. As much as she feared the water as long as she didn't go in the water she was fine. The lake was still always a great spot to be. Whether she was on her own working on some art or studying. Even with friends it was a great spot to hang out. Of course in her opinion a safe distance from the water. She was in a small cluster of trees alongside the lake sitting against it in the grass. Her sketchbook sat beside her but lay unopened. She carried the book and pencils with her everywhere she went most times, even to quidditch practice. Of course her father seen her drawing and quidditch as useless skills and nothing more than hobbies. He wanted her to be a writer like himself and her mother. That was far from Avery's game plan. She enjoyed drawing and quidditch. Her long blonde hair was left down to fall over shoulders. The breeze causing it to move and shift into her face often. She was staring out at the waters reflective surface. The way the light caught the water and cast shadows upon the areas around it. She wasn't just looking at the beauty but analyzing it to add some realistic aspects to her current drawing of the lake. A soft hum singing a soft tone as she did so. Elian L. Snape

Elian wasn’t much of a Quidditch person himself; he enjoyed watching the sport, but he was terrible when it came to riding on a broom. However, when it came to one specific team, he made sure to attend all of their practices and games. For no reason in particular, no reason at all, don’t ever question him on it. It wasn’t even Slytherin – it was Hufflepuff. If asked he would simply say that he enjoyed studying with the noise in the background. There was definitely not someone he went to watch and make sure they were doing well. It was a dangerous sport and people were injured all the time… but that didn’t matter he wasn’t watching to make sure a person didn’t injure themselves. No, not at all. Plus, in a way, just him being there could support a person. But he wasn’t there for anyone in particular – not at all. In all honesty, he had decided to take a walk after the Hufflepuff practice, and it just so happened he ended up at the lake. The slight breeze rippled the water of the lake, sending slight chills up the sleeves of his long shirt. It was getting later into the evening, the sun was starting to set and curfew wouldn’t be too long, but there was still time to relax and perhaps read a book. However, when he got closer to the lake, he stopped for a moment, seeing a particular Hufflepuff who had gotten out of the practice he had watched. He swallowed and glanced around seeing a few groups of friends hanging around the lake, but not close enough to Avery that they would overhear anything. Elian sucked in a breath and then slowly marched towards the blonde, his curly black hair bouncing with each step he took. “You did well in practice today,” Elian said and instantly felt himself regretting his words. Of course, she knew he watched their practices but he never said he watched anyone. Regardless, he cleared his throat and looked down at his feet. “N-Not that I was – y’know – I mean…” Great recovery Elian. He let his head hang back and then looked back down at Avery. “Do you mind if I –“ He vaguely gestured at the area next to her hoping she’d understand he was asking if she minded if he sat next to her. Merlin, he was a terrible fool.

Avery had been admiring the beauty of the lake for a long moment. Though the sound of approaching footsteps caught her attention. Her grey eyes caught the sight of Elain. She had thought she saw him at practice today. Most times he was and she admired him for that. Not many would sit through the long practice but he always did. And he came to her games even if it wasn't against Slytherin.
In her opinion Avery enjoyed hanging out with him. Elian was a calm person and didn't mind her blood status. She was well aware there were a few that teased her for it. Elian didn't care. Having a good friends was always nice. Someone to study with, or go to Hogsmeade with. He was a few years older than him but certainly that didn't matter all too much. Hopefully after e left they would stay in contact.
She looked over at him with a smile. "Thanks but I definitely could have done better" she said to him with a smile. Her expression and emotions showed she didn't mind. She knew well enough that he watched. She nodded and let him take a seat beside her in the grass. "How are you today?" she asked.

Elian blinked when she said she could’ve done better. He wasn’t really all that versed on Quidditch, but she seemed to do fine to him. But that could’ve been because he didn’t really get Quidditch. His father wasn’t much of a sport person, and Elian was a lot like his father. He was more cerebral and calculating as opposed to a physical quickness. His eyes were fast, but that was only when he was doing magic, not just watching. Perhaps if he played some, he would understand what she meant. He’d have to ask his father for a broom though and perhaps… perhaps he should just ask his mother about that. When she didn’t protest at his request, he took a quick seat, almost too quick and he blushed ever so slightly at the stupidity of his movement. He prided himself on not being clumsy or acting stupid and yet here was being clumsy and acting stupid just because he was around a pretty girl. His father would not be proud, he was sure. Then again, Elian had a skewed view of his father. Maybe he would think it was good for him to branch out and have moments like this. “Oh well, you look good – looked good to me.” He pursed his lips and looked away as fast as he could, and then towards the slowly darkening sky. “I’m… good, really. Classes were good. My book was good. Er… what about you? D-Draw anything cool today?”

[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged words 281 notes none | Avery was the type of person who always felt the need to improve her skills. That the slightest flaw might hinder her abilities to perform. This was even more certain when it came to Quidditch. Being of a muggle family the only time she could truly practice was when she was at Hogwarts. When out of school she was never home. They were always travelling around the world. It gave great inspiration for her artwork but it gave little time to hang with friends or do what she wanted. Most times she found herself staying in the hotel drawing.
So when it came to coming back she always wanted to hang with friends. Especially Elian who she had found to be a great person to be around. Though he could definitely be silly or sometimes stumble over his words, she didn't care. It made him unique in her eyes. That and he often liked to know how she was doing or how her art was. No one could ask for a better friend. She had no knowledge of his feelings for her.
"It was a small thing.." she said to him running her fingers through her blonde hair with a small laugh. "And you know me perfecting some older pieces of the lake. You can have a look if you like?" she asked. She offered him the sketchbook to him. Very few were allowed to look in her sketchbook. Inside were different sketches. Some of the Forbidden Forest and the creatures inside it. Some of places she had gone with her family like Rome and Greece. And of course many places from around Hogwarts, including the quidditch pitch, lake and courtyards.
