It was a clear and sunny day. Quidditch practice was over and she was more than willing to spend the rest of her day relaxing. Dressed in her usual school uniform she was sitting on on of the benches of the clock tower courtyard. She was in the process of sketching in her sketchbook. Across its pages was a view of the lake from its shore.
Taking a moment to stretch before going back to sketching her grey eyes scanned the courtyard calmly. Her blonde hair was left down and fell into her face slightly. She pushed the blonde hair from her face and tucked it behind her ears. The day was calm and a few gathered in the courtyard as always. Most minded their own business and chatted amongst their smaller isolated groups. Occasionally they would get a bit loud when they laughed but it never lasted. She was shocked she was able to focus this long here. She had almost been tempted to head to the lake and sketch but decided against it.
Finally after her hand and wrist were stretched she went back to drawing. Her pencil drawing fine lines upon the paper. Each stroke either drawing a new shape or shading another. At some point she became very focused. Much of the things around her just nothing but noise around her.

They had been having nice weather lately and Ares was taking full advantage of the fact always looking for any reason to spend time outside of the castle, which could get stuffy at times. He knew that the weather would turn coldish and rainy in the next couple of months but that was okay since he didn’t mind the nasty weather, especially the cold it was as if he felt more alive during that time. Ares chalked that feeling up to the instincts of his animagus form. He found himself in the courtyard of clock tower and saw one of his close friends, Avery drawing. He was surprised that she was doing that here with the noise of others, knowing that most people that drew tended to need a bit of quiet to focus on what they were doing. Ares walked over and took a seat next to his friend. “Hope you don’t mind if I join you Avery.” He said after a few minutes of watching his friend draw. It always amazed him at the talent that his friend had. Ares could draw but mostly it happened to be things like runes and what not. Avery Morgan

Avery had been so focused on her drawing that the familiar form of her friend didn't register. It wasn't until she heard his voice that snapped her out of what she was doing. His words actually startled her a bit and she jumped a bit. Though she played it off as though she hadn't. "Oh hey didn't see you.." she said with a light laugh. She once more pushed blonde strands out of he face.
Though she settled the sketchbook and pencil down in her lap now that he was here. "You know I never mind company" she pointed out calmly. "Though how is your day going? I am glad it has been nice. Gives us more time to go on some adventure" she would add with a grin. Of course Avery loved drawing and Quidditch as a pass time, even if it wasn't something her parents thought were useful skills. If there was one pass time she enjoyed the most was adventures with Ares.
The sense of excitement and even the adrenaline rush was enough to excite her. Maybe that was why she was also very fond of Quidditch. Both offered great times but also danger at times. Though the best part was there was endless possibilities. That was coming from a girl who didn't necessarily go home for holidays or summer, but travelled with her parents wherever their journalist jobs brought her and her brother Luke.

“I do know, and I also know that you love having me around.” Ares said with a smirk. “My day has been pretty boring so far.” He paused for a second to glance up as an owl flew overhead towards one of the other students in the courtyard. “Granted now that I find myself in your company it has gotten infinitely better.” He answered truthfully, as he did enjoy spending time with Avery as she was a good friend. He quirked one of his eyebrows up as she mentioned going on an adventure. Now that definitely piqued his interest. “An adventure you say?” He asked, it almost sounded like he had a weakness for adventures. Which wasn’t to far from the truth, he loved adventures, especially going on them with his friends, his sister, and especially with Daphne. And then there were the ones that he went on with Avery and they always turned out to be quite enjoyable and if he was honest she was right behind Daphne and Sophia when it came to people he always wanted to go on adventures with. "What kind of adventure did you have in mind?"Avery Morgan

Avery smiled warmly at him. She placed the sketchbook down and in her lap to focus more on the conversation with Ares. "I do indeed...and of course it got better. Your with me" she said with a light laugh. Avery was being honest when his company was much appreciated. Sometimes he was the only person she could truly confide in. There were things she didn't trust anyone to know but him. Maybe they were just friends but he had certainly earned her trust enough though.
Avery knew the mention of adventure would peak his interest. Oftentimes it did. She truly knew him to well. "Well you know...maybe a trip to the forbidden forest, unless you have a better idea" she suggested to him with a small smirk dancing on her lips. Adventures with Ares were always the best. No matter how trouble they encountered or got in, if they got caught. It had been a while since they actually got caught.

He couldn’t help himself as he chuckled at her response and rolled his eyes. “A little full of yourself today I see.” Ares joked. Of course, his day got better. Everything else that he was doing today had been boring, which is why he had decided to wander around in the first place. “The forbidden forest always has something new and exciting to find in it.” Ares replied with a grin remembering the many times they had found themselves in the forest during the day and night or in his case in detention sometimes. Sure, there were dark creatures in the forest but there were also light creatures if you wanted to use that term such as unicorns, thestrals, etc. It really wasn’t all that scary you just had to expect the unexpected, which was easier said than done sometimes. But being handy with wand always helps. “I think that it would be quite a good place to start as any. Plus, it has been a little while since we’ve been in there at the same time.” Ares spent quite a bit of time in the forest, probably more than most other students. "But the question is where do you want go this time and how deep into the forest?"

Avery laughed in response to his comment. "So not true" she said and playfully nudged him. She gave him a shrug, "Yep always new things to find...plus after the longest summer ever I can use some exploring" she pointed out to him. Indeed her summer had meant she spent more time travelling than anything else
"Oh I know it has been far too long. Maybe we see how far we can go. I don't mind exactly where we go. You know me I am not too picky" she said to him. Avery didn't mind the forest. Unlike how others feared it she didn't. To her it was filled with beauty and opportunity. Plus if they did find themselves in some sort of trouble she was was good with her wand. Never would she enter unprepared.

“Oh? What made your summer long?” Ares asked out of curiosity. His summer had been quite enjoyable spending time with family and friends, even the trip to France was fun. “I’m always up for a challenge. Maybe we can make it to the mountains on the far side forest.” He said while thinking about what awaited them if they made it to the mountains, possibly a dragon, or some griffins. It would make for a great adventure and an even better story. He looked at Avery and smirked. “Maybe we’ll find the thestrals on our way.” He said off handily, he had come across the majestic creatures multiple times. The first time he had come across them in the forest he had been exploring in his animagus form and the creatures had thought of him as a threat at first and he had gotten kicked by one in the side. He had that bruise for multiple weeks afterwards and it was a little hard to breath. He got lucky that none of his ribs had broken. He had shifted back to himself after that so he could at least wrap his chest with some conjured bandages. He was used to injuries, so it didn’t matter to much. The thestrals had warmed up to him as he sat there breathing deeply to try to help ease his pain. It had been difficult to breath steadily. “Or maybe well run into that unicorn that seemed to like you the last time we were in the forest.”Avery Morgan

Avery smiled at him and shrugged. "More travelling...I think we spent more time in a plan than in the hotel this summer. Not much to see from an airplane.." she told him. Though most trips she stayed in the hotel with her brother while their parents did what they had to for work. Though she grinned at the suggestion of heading to the mountains.
"Oh you know I am down for that...who knows what we will find. I kind of wanna find a griffin. A dragon would be cool as long as we don't get seen" she said to him. Of course she was always careful but that didn't mean she got herself in trouble in the forest. A few scratches and bruises were nothing. She gotten hurt worse in quidditch than she did in the forest. "I am sure the thestral would love to see you. As for the unicorn I sure hope we can find it again. This time I'll make sure to bring it an apple or something" she said.
