"Dinna go to far lassie!" Shouted her father from behind as her red head began to run through the alley. The man had thick red curly hair, which was brushed back and under a flat cap bonnet and wearing a nice tweed suite that was brown in color. Beside him was a beautiful woman with dark brown hair. The woman wore a very nice knee length dress with a tweed jacket that went just past the dress in length. Before them was a child with brown hair, watching after Lindsey as she ran off.
"Aye, Da!" She called over her shoulder before she disappeared into the street. She had money for some ice cream at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour and that was her plan. As she got further away, she slowed and smiled when she came to the parlor. As she went in, she quickly got in line behind the others and smiled brightly as she got closer to the counter.
"Can I help you, deary?" Ask the woman behind the counter and Lindsey nodded.
"Aye, can I get the purple colored ice cream, please?" Lindsey said as she stood there and offered her galleons to them. Once she had the ice cream, she took it outside and sat down in the empty chair at the table. It tasted amazing and she found herself closing her eyes in bliss before she smiled and opened them back up to watch everyone.

Neville had been alone for the most of the day, he had been given his weekly allowance and permission to go in to Diagon Alley. He knew exactly what he was going to get, a new broom for Quidditch! Nev had been saving up his allowances for two summers to buy some new equipment but mostly he wanted a new broom for the next season of Quidditch at Hogwarts.
Walking out of Quality Quidditch Supplies Nev had his new broom in a case that was slung over his shoulder, a bag of new gear, and sticking out of his bag was a pendant flag of his favorite Quidditch team the Kenmare Kestrels. He saw just a glimpse of red hair but it was enough for his heart to give that little weird flutter affect when he saw her..
Checking his appearance in the window of Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour, a quick breath check he spotted her and decided he was going to make a move to maybe spend some time with her alone. Away from the other Gryffindor peers, "Hey Ginny," he shouted to the back of the red heads head, "Odd seeing you without tha' other lot."

Lindsey was really enjoying the ice cream, even though she periodically looked around for her friends. Had she come before other students come? It wasn't that long before school started and she had seen a few students already, both younger and older. Glancing back towards the book shop, she searched for her parents as well, but never saw them.
"Hey Ginny." The sudden name made her glance around. Were the Weasleys here? She hadn't see any, but she knew the name, seeing as Ron Weasley was in her year and Lindsey had seen his little sister in the past. Looking around, she quickly found the owner of the voice and saw Neville Longbottom. He was on the Gryffindor Quidditch team and she smiled before giving a little wave.
"Not Ginny! But hello," She said in a cheerful, highland accent before she took another bite of her ice cream and turned around towards him. "I actual haven't seen any of them out here today, did ye come for some ice cream?" Lindsey asked, motioning towards the door of the building. It would be nice to actual spend some time with someone from Hogwarts, especially since she was going home tonight with her parents and brother. This was the last weekend before going to Hogwarts and she was both sad and excited...
The Cèilidh was tomorrow night and her mother had said she could invite some friends...

It wasn't Ginny. Nev felt his cheeks heat up a bit and he was sure they were a shade of red or perhaps pink. When it came to girls Neville didn't have a horse for this race he had certain tics when he did talk to a girl like what he was doing at the current moment, a nervous hand rubbing the side of his neck and smiling like a dork.
"My apologies, Lindsey," Neville offered an apology, he did know her as they had both started together. She was just a Slytherin. That didn't bother Nev, house rivalry and whatnot, she was nice and he had always said she should have been a Hufflepuff.
No, they didn't have a rivalry here or when in classes, but the Quidditch field? Yeah there they did. Still friendly.
"I was fixing to skip the ice cream and talk to Ginny about the upcoming Quidditch season," Nev tapped the broom case on his back, "Got a new broom," he was beaming with pride even as he looked down at the ice cream, "But tha' looks good!"

Lindsey couldn't help but find a little amusement as his reddening cheeks, but she looked away. To be honest, she felt her own cheeks redden slightly, but she pushed her own flutters away to return her eyes to him. As he apologized, she shook her head.
"Dinna be sorry, twas a mistake," She said as she stood from the table, holding her half finished ice cream in her hand and looked over at the broom case with a wide smile. The idea of talking about Quidditch was actual quite a nice one. She wondered if he would be okay talking to her about it. Pushing back some of her curly hair, she motioned with her head towards the box. "Mine if I take a peek? My ma keeps tellin' me she is buyin' me a new one," she asked, putting her ice cream back on the table and grabbing a napkin she had been given with her treat.
The mention of the ice cream made her glance at it and she smiled brightly.
"Tis very good."

"o'course," neville wasn't going hesitate to show off his new broom and even though the broom was a few years old the Fire bolt was still the hottest selling Quidditch broom since the Nimbus 2001, "Got it with a few customized bits... For flare," as he took the broom case off his back he paused to do a weird little move then regretted it instantly but continued to remove the case.
The Firebolt was black but coated in a sheen that in the light reflected back with the colors of Gryffindor, the tip of the broom had the Hogwarts crest and his last name with his number. The bristle brush was Gryffindor colors too, it was sleek and new.
"Saved up two summers! Mum and Da' wanted me to save for school but honestly this is for school! Imma play professional one day so this is a future stake in that," Nev was once again beaming at his broom thinking about how he couldn't wait to be back at school playing again. His parents didn't understand, they wanted him to follow them but at the same time they didn't push it.

As Neville opened the case, Lindsey looked at it in awe. It was absolutely beautiful and she let her fingers hover above the shining handle. Looking at Neville, she knew she probably looked like a cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland, but she couldn't help herself.
"Tis beautiful, Neville," She said as she backed away, allowing him to put it away with ease. "Dinna tell anyone, but you might have a jealous slytherin... Wouldn't want someone to find out, they might kick me out," she joked with him, her amused smile showing it was truly a joke. If someone in the Slytherin house didn't belong, it was Lindsey. Sure, she had other qualities that were definitely Slytherin, but other wise, she could have easily gone to Gryffindor or Hufflepuff.
Lindsey was going to need to be more convincing with her own parents if she was going to get a new broom before she graduated from Hogwarts. It would more than likely be a Graduation gift, but she could dream right?
"Ye're gonna be a force on the pitch, Neville... I look forward to the match," she said as she crossed her arms, glancing over at her melting ice cream for a moment. It would just have to melt, she was enjoying herself. "How was ye're summer?"

"I'll be sure to go as easy as I can on everyone this year," he was being funny and he laughed after his joke before waving it off, "I say it will be the best season yet this year! Gotta thick mesh of seasoned players in all houses."
Nev was ready for school but he would be a lair if he said he wasn't bummed the summer was over, "It was good, short o'course, but good. How was yours?"

Lindsey laughed at the lighthearted joke and crossed her arms a little in amusement before she shook her head. If he thought that was a good idea, she might have to show him how wrong he was. But, she also knew he wouldn't be going each on anyone. "Oh, aye... Give the rest of us slowpokes a chance," she said in shared amusement before it changed over to talk about the summer.
It was good to hear that he had a good summer and she smiled as he said it was short. At the question about her own, she smiled brightly, because she knew she would have a chance to ask him a question. "Twas good, a bit busy... But, I'm glad ye were around today... I'm havin' a summer's end party back home... Why don't ye come? I sent out letters this mornin', but they might not have gotten to people yet." Anyone around could tell she was excited, her face lite up at the mention of it.
"It a community type event where I live and lots of fun stuff goin' on," she explained, though she likely didn't have to.

Nev had a lot of admiration for Lindsey, it couldn't be easy being the nice Slytherin. No way in hell could he have done it, and he smiled a little harder when she invited him to a community event and party because Nev was never much of the person getting invited.
"Yeah totally! That sounds pretty wicked in fact," his next question was played off of a 'not that I care' attitude and heavy whatever shrugs of his shoulder, "You invite Ginny? Pfft I mean not that I care' but... She's kewl..."

Lindsey knew about many of the Slytherins who had hatred for others and some likely hated her. The thought of Elian came to mind fairly quickly, but she pushed that away. Just because people hated her because of one thing or another didn't mean she had to be unkind to them. She smiled when he asked about Ginny Weasley, Ron's younger sister.
"Well, I invited the Weasley family, so I guess we will see if she comes," Lindsey said with a smile on her face. It was no surprise to her when people liked or crushed on Ginny. Actually, she had watched a few of her classmates looked at Ginny in awe, which was rather amusing to Lindsey.
